Feevale promotes free open classes

Activities will take place on March 11th and 18th, with the participation of Finnish teachers

Feevale University promotes, on March 11 and 18, from 9 am to 10:30 am (Brasília time), the Open Classes, open classes, which are part of the Mentored Teacher Education – Brazil/Finland Program, based on an international cooperation agreement with Tampere University, from Finland. The postgraduation classes will be open to the community, and will be taught by four Finnish teachers, who will address the planning of classes in the different stages of basic education. The first class, on the 11th, will be about Early Childhood Education and Elementary School (1st to 5th grade). The meeting, taught by teachers Hanna Lehikoinen and Johanna Pitkänen, will be broadcasted via the link feev.as/openclasses11-03.

In the second class, on the 18th, the discussions will be about plannings to be applied to elementary school (6th to 9th grade) and high school students. The activity, taught by teachers Nina Sipilâ and Minna van Nunen, can be accessed at feev.as/openclasses18-03.

About the guest professors

Hanna Lehikoinen is a Master of Arts, History and Social Studies, and a special education teacher. Johanna Pitkänen has a Masters’ degree in Arts, Arts Education and Education; she is a Visual Arts teacher. Nina Sipilä holds a Master of Arts and works as an English and French teacher. Minna van Nunen holds a Master of Science and teaches Biology, Geography and Health Education.

Mentored Teacher Education

Lasting for two years, the postgraduate course addresses a new concept of teaching and keeps on Feevale's 15-year relationship with educational institutions in Finland, which are at the top of education international rankings that measure the quality of education at all levels. The training aims to qualify professors from the University, and also Feevale School of Application, in an innovative and collaborative way, through Finnish methodologies and technologies, with the goal of applying them in the classroom, and then pass them on to teachers of Rio Grande do Sul and other states in Brazil.
